Read the scores, care notes and plain-language takeaways before you buy or dress.
What you get in the app
One scan returns the fibers and the scores, with care notes alongside.
- Instant 0-10 scores: Overall, Adult Health, Baby Safety, Skin Safety and Breathability
- Composition breakdown: natural vs synthetic split, named fibers, plus any certifications on the tag
- Eco Score and Sustainability rating for the environmental side
- Vegan check that flags animal-derived fibers and other ethical concerns
- Care instructions: washing, drying, ironing and special notes
- Seasonal suitability: how a piece performs in summer, winter, spring and fall
- Fabric Guide: browse 30+ fabrics with properties, common uses and best seasons, no scan needed
- Label or photo flow: scan tags, or analyze a garment image when the label is missing
- Scan history: every result saved, with estimated scans flagged
Pick a category before you scan
The analysis adapts to what you are holding. Baby & Child looks harder at finishes such as formaldehyde, phthalates, heavy metals and AZO dyes, and Home Textile watches for flame-retardant treatments.
A fabric identifier for tags and for photos
To find out what material a garment is, scan its care label. FiberCheck reads the fiber content printed on the label, for example 60% cotton and 40% polyester, and scores what that fabric means for your skin and the environment. If the label is missing or faded, photograph the garment instead.
A photo gives an estimate, not a lab result, and photo scans are marked as estimated. FiberCheck provides informational insights based on AI interpretation of the images and text you provide. It is not medical advice, and results may be incomplete or inaccurate, so check the care label whenever you have one.
Frequently asked questions
What is the FiberCheck clothes scanner app?
FiberCheck is an AI fabric identifier for iPhone and Android. Snap a care label, or photograph the garment when there is no tag, and in seconds you get the fiber breakdown plus separate 0-10 scores for adult health, baby safety, skin safety and breathability.
Can the app identify a fabric from a photo?
Yes. When there is no readable label, photograph the garment or the fabric itself and the AI estimates its likely composition from visual characteristics, then scores it the same way as a label scan. A photo gives an estimate, not a lab result, and scans from photos are marked as estimated, so check the care label whenever you have one.
Which phones does it run on?
FiberCheck is available on iOS (iPhone, iPad) and Android devices, from the Apple App Store and Google Play. The app needs a device with a camera for label scanning or fabric photo analysis.
Is the clothes scanner app free?
FiberCheck is free to download and use. For unlimited scans and premium features you can upgrade to the premium plan.
Does it work without an internet connection?
An internet connection is required for the AI analysis, because the scan is processed in the cloud. Previously scanned items are cached for offline viewing.
